Bandwidth or Latency: When to Optimise for Which

When it comes to network performance, there are two main limiting factors that will slow you down: bandwidth and latency. Bandwidth is defined as… …the maximum rate of data transfer across a given path. Generally speaking, increased bandwidth is only particularly useful when you’re transferring or downloading large files. If you’re streaming video, the difference between a 2Mb1 connection and a 20Mb connection will surely be appreciated. If you’re browsing the web—with most pages constructed of much smaller files—then the same change in bandwidth may not be felt quite as…

Understanding SHORTINIT with WordPress 5

What I am trying to achieve I am looking at using WordPress decoupled, and most tutorials and guides go into detail on using the Rest API. Recently, I discovered the SHORTINIT option to load a very minimal WordPress instance. There is next to no documentation, and very few questions about its use, however I am interested in making use of it. What have I tried So far, I have setup a simple test php file in the root directory: define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true); define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true); //define(‘DOING_AJAX’, true); define(‘SHORTINIT’, true); require(dirname( __FILE__ )…

Display attribute on shop page after the title

I am using the following code for displaying a custom attribute on the Woocommerce shop page. But for some reason, the year is displayed above the product image instead of after the product title (In between the product title and the price). add_action(‘woocommerce_after_shop_loop_item_title’, ‘YearOfMake’, 10); function YearOfMake() { global $product; $abv = $product->get_attribute(‘year-made’); if (empty($abv)) return; echo __($abv, ‘woocommerce’); } Link: https://groovygarbs.com/cars/ Source: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/feeds

page-{slug} not loaded in custom theme

I’m working on a custom template for WordPress. I’ve created some page and then created the relative page-{slug}.php (example page-careers.php) that are supposed to be loaded from WordPress when the name of a page match. The problem is that it will load the index.php file and will not recognize the pages template I’ve made. I’ve checked the permalink settings and it’s setted up with /%postname%/ inside the database and with the article name inside the WordPress options menu. How I can solve this?
